notes from planning team meeting March 25

Luz, Aryanna, Boreta, Jackie and I met to assess feedback from this year's event, to discuss future possibilities and to plan for a report to Pastoral Council on April 20. It was a wonderful conversation (of two hours)!

Jackie will post notes from the meeting in the comments soon.

  2. Greetings! Here is a brief outline of my notes...
GIFT Team Review Meeting on MArch 25, 2009
Present: Luz, Sandy, Boreta, Aryanna, Jackie

    Opening Prayer led by Luz.
    Individual reflections of the event:
Luz - two-fold experience in the process/preparation and then the actual event
Aryanna - it was great to see and hear everyone's experiences, learned about other groups, need to get the word out and get more people involved, not everyone knows what it (GIFT) is.
Jackie - echoed Luz's observation about it being a dual experience of process and event, it was great to learn about people and the various groups, challenged by not having enough time
Aryanna - noted that she did not understand the process and what was expected (regarding the grace of Call)
Sandy - noted that the "Call" group did not really work together
Jackie - responded that while the groups responded separately on the day their reflections on call came out of the same prayer/meditation (forom the Spiritual Expercises) and scripture passage that all three groups were asked to pray with for the weeks precedding the event day.
Sandy - was initially disappointed with the low numbers of people but quickly got over it; looking long term the work may need to be done monthly/over a longer peiod of time; suggested a possible theme of "Social Justice"
Luz - reviewed the concept of Intergenerational Catechesis from which GIFT was derived.

What is GIFT? Sandy gave a brief history of the Pastoral Council view of what GIFT is...
About interrelationships; connecting the various silos within the parish community, bringing the groups together (process) by focusing on one theme, culminating in a parish wide experience (event); being mindful and inclusive of the various groups within the community i.e. children, seniors etc.

    Ideas for themes:
    Sandy - social gospel
Aryanna - belonging (education of parishioners and others about the various ministires/services that Xavier offers)
    Boreta - homeless/current crisis
    Jackie - Peace & Justice

More reflection/prayer/work will need to be done to clarify GIFT and the what the focus of next year's event will be.

Hope this helps and is accurate. Please edit and correct as needed! I was only jotting down ideas and not really taking notes formally i.e. as minutes. I have more thoughts which I will send out over the weekend.

    Ooof! My first blog comment!

    Peace & Alleluia!
    Jackie
