- did you find the meetings, calls, emails, reflection through which you prepared for Feb 21 helped you (personally) to grow in faith?
- did you find the meetings, calls, emails, reflection through which you prepared for Feb 21 helped you (personally) to get out of your 'silos' and connect meaningfully with people involved in very different ministries than your own?
As with my previous 'big question', my hope is to get feedback to help analyze whether the effort of putting-on-an-event is 'worth it'.
1) Yes, I think my preparation for Feb 21 did help me grow in faith. The process of articulating the "mission and philosophy" of Ability Xavier was very meaningful to me, and helped me grow in my understanding of our group.
ReplyDelete2) YES, I think it did inspire me to reach out (to the Gay and Lesbian group, for one, re: AIDS Walk Day) to other groups. It has also inspired me to think of other ways to build bridges with other groups... I hope there will be a way to bring some of these ideas further.
An addendum to #2: for the GIFT website, I have invited all groups that participated to send something about their group... flier about an upcoming event, simple contact info, etc. to help us better facilitate (maybe?) this process.
ReplyDeleteThinking more about it, I think this needs to be a continued process that is facilitated in some way by parish events... or another GIFT, or something. We've scratched the surface and need to go deeper.
I think of the scripture passage about "good seed"- some seed inplants quickly and eagerly, but then is scorched by the sun, cut off by weeds, etc... while the "good seed" takes root and is nourished, to become strong and solid. That image comes to mind as I think about GIFT- we do not want the "seed" that we laid to be quickly "killed off" by the scorching sun and weeds of busy schedules, old habits, etc.
Yes on both questions -- to see how Luz prepared for our meetings, and the dedication of the other co-laborers was growth; and to learn and connect a little more with people in different ministries was gratifying.
